WOW! What a tent!!
We are getting ready to embark on our 2nd season camping with our awesome Springbar Colossus tent. We just cannot say enough good things about this tent...but here are a few worthy of mentioning. As the name implies, Colossus, this thing is HUGE! Tons of floor space for our family of 5 plus our lazy camping dog. We all sleep on cots (2 xl's and 3 reg. size) and still have floor space to move around and give the dog her own bed on the floor. We camped over 30 nights last summer and this tent held up in all kinds of weather. We had high winds, thunderstorms, POURING rain, and extreme heat and the Colossus kept us cool and dry the entire time.
We ran into some issues with our awning zipper being stretched too tight when the tent was set up which allowed water to pool on the zipper flap (kind of like gutter). The customer service team at Kirkham's is fantastic and had the massive tent shipped back to their warehouse 2 TIMES to try and fix it. After the 3rd time, they just sent us a brand new tent. Amazing in this day and age to find a company who truly cares about their customer's satisfaction!
Set up time is about 20 minutes for the tent and 95% of that is pounding in the 18 stakes. We love the true camping experience of waking up under canvas and love how the material breathes so their is no annoying condensation build up in the morning. We are looking forward to many years of great memories camping with this tent! Now to convince my husband we need the family shade tent!

Great Tent
Our Colossus Springbar tent has seen us thru 3 camping seasons and we are about to start our 4th year using this tent.

We are a family of 5 with 2 big dogs. The size is perfect. People sleep on one side. Dogs and gear and sand stay on the other (even after a no shoes in the tent policy, it seems impossible to keep it out completely and having the extra space makes it easier to keep the bedding clean).

We camp about 20 nights a year and before we got this tent (our first canvas tent) I was never comfortable. It always seemed too humid and clammy and I just disliked being inside all our previous tents

With previous tents, it was too easy to leave a place for water to collect and the poles would break and they took forever to put up and required guy wires everywhere.

This tent goes up much faster than any tent I have had before and I love that I do not need stakeout lines that I always trip over. I have always put it up by myself no problems.

Canvas makes for a very nice experience inside. Even during some pretty severe thunderstorms, the tent barely moved, never collected water anywhere, never felt uncomfortable. We have even brought our portable a/c unit and vented it out thru the window (don't want to overheat the dogs nor keep it too hot for the kids to take their naps).

Since it is so much heavier, the poles are a much higher quality than their cheaper tents.

I stake out a canopy on the back side sloping down to allow air thru, but not water or sun or peeping neighbors.

I stake out a portico on the front and just try my best to avoid unnecessary guy lines. I am still working out theories for quicker setup/take down and high-wind conditions setup. You will need very taunt guy wires for heavy wind conditions and consider sloping it to avoid collecting water during rain storms.

I purchased the netting for the portico, but have only used it once. Decided it just unnecessarily added to the assembly/disassembly time.

I had them put loops in the corners of the roof so that I can hang a shelf from the ceiling that runs the entire width and a small lantern and a collapsable Coleman 3 tiered circular shelf.

I have been contemplating getting a 2nd one without sides or a floor to use as a dining tent and have the portico/canopy run from one to the other as the Colossus is so much easier to set up and larger than the SuperPort Dining Tent I purchased (which they apparently no longer sell). (Anyone want to buy an all-canvas SuperPort :-).

I cannot imaging ever again using any other tent. If anything ever happens to this one, I will be getting another.
